This is a proper aperitif: no hard likker to knock you off your feet — just a tickle of warmth from twin vermouths and a splash of sweetness from Maraschino to get your appetite, and your evening, started right. Of course, should you prefer to cut to the chase, a thimbleful of rye works nicely, too. Just saying.

2 oz. French vermouth
1 oz. sweet vermouth
1/2 oz. Maraschino liqueur

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add ingredients. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with 2 real Maraschino cherries. Drink up.
